Polycystic Ovarian

Polycystic Ovary Disease, also known as PCOD is a condition affecting women where small cysts are developed in the ovary. In many patients suffering from PCOD, multiple cysts develop in the ovaries. Although not dangerous, these cysts can cause hormonal imbalance. The cysts are formed due to the disruptions in the regular hormonal cycle of women. High amounts of androgen and estrogens are produced when the ovary is enlarged. Also known as the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) or the Stein-Leventhal syndrome, this condition can also affect ovulation and result in infertility.

PCOD treatment includes panchakarma and internal medication and methods like varmana, basti, udvartana and virechana. The treatment for PCOD through Ayurveda is pretty long and can last for up to 6 months or a year. For this, the patient must be strong and willing to undergo the long treatment process. PCOD is best treated using the panchakarma method through which a systematic detoxification of the body is undertaken.
